Book Blast: TEMPTING SYDNEY by Angela Corbett + Giveaway

Synopsis

“Someone needs to make you come completely undone, Sydney Parker.” His tongue moved slowly over his lips. “That someone is going to be me.”

Goal-oriented Sydney Parker has never had a problem focusing. She’s about to start law school, the first step on her way to the Supreme Court. With no time for relationships, she lives vicariously through her best friend Brynn, who has recently decided to use sex as a research tool. Sydney, however, hasn’t been laid in years. Men are a distraction, one Sydney has diligently avoided…until Jackson West crashes into her life, and under her hood.

The last thing Sydney needs is a hot mechanic working on her ‘69 Camaro. Especially a hot mechanic with eyes like the ocean and lick-me abs, who claims to be better in bed than a werewolf.

Jax thinks that’s exactly what Sydney needs.

But Sydney has goals, and a relationship with the enigmatic Jax would challenge her.

Distract her.

Tempt her.

Sydney is about to find out that temptation is very hard to resist.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

As a child, Angela Corbett’s most prized possession was a set of read-along books. She used to follow along with the narrator on the stereo and dream of when she would be able to read by herself. Her childhood reading habit led her to consider her future career. However, after consulting with her parents, she realized she had already exceeded hobbit height and since fairies and dragonslayers were tricky jobs to get, she decided she wanted to create worlds of her own. She started writing poetry in elementary school and worked as a journalist in high school and college, but could never leave her love for writing fiction behind.

She is a graduate of Westminster College where she double majored in communication and sociology. She has worked as a journalist, freelance writer, and director of communications and marketing. She loves classic cars, traveling, and escaping in a good book. She lives in Utah with her incredibly supportive husband and their five-pound Pomeranian, Pippin, whose following of fangirls could rival Justin Bieber's.

Eternal Starling is her debut novel and the first book in the Emblem of Eternity trilogy.

Book Description:
After her father’s untimely demise in a mining accident and her mother’s abandonment, Lauren Lindsay is no stranger to loss. She’s used to living life for one person: herself. That is, until another family tragedy thrusts three children into her care and uproots her life in ways she could never imagine.

Lauren's first instinct is to run, until she meets their striking, mysterious neighbor Dean Powell. Their immediate chemistry and his connection with her late father just might be enough to keep her in town long enough to uncover pieces of her past that she never had answers to. Dean’s shady past and her reluctance to trust him could cost her the life she's always been searching for, but will she run back to her old life?

Or will she choose to stay and live the life her father always imagined for her?

Optional Excerpts:

Excerpt #1:

“Have you ever heard of koi no yokan?”

I shook my head.

“It’s Japanese,” he explained as he trailed his fingers lightly down one of my arms. “It doesn’t have an English equivalent. Roughly translated, it’s a term for the feeling that you have when you first meet someone.”

“Like love at first sight?” I asked, tipping my head up toward his.

“No, not quite like that. It’s more like you know that a future love with that person is inevitable, but it doesn’t exist in that moment.”

suddenly appears and winds its way up their bodies within days of each other, they soon realize
there's more to their relationship than they could ever have imagined.
Sent off to London for two weeks of 'work experience', the Morgan Sisters soon find themselves
being initiated into the ancient Praxos Foundation, one that protects the innocent while fighting evil,

At the same time, Lana Beth and Emma Jane must also investigate why the sweet but sometimes
pesky ghost of Josiah Grimshaw just won't leave them alone.

What people are saying about The Ghost of Josiah Grimshaw
"I would go so far as to say that this book could be the beginnings of a series as good as those by
J.K. Rowling!"
"This book is a great start to a potentially brilliant series"
"I loved the bad guys, the graveyard antics, the talking dead, the superpowers of the kick-a** ninja
chicks, and the rite of initiation the sisters go through"

AUTHOR BIO
In my other life--the one before I began writing for teens and younger readers--I was a teacher and administrator at California State University, San Jose. My field of Linguistics and Inter-cultural Communication has carried me to a lot of places in the world to explore different cultures and languages. I can say, “Where’s the toilet?” and “I’m lost!” in at least five languages and two dialects. Go ahead. Pat me on the back.

My idea of a perfect day is one or all of the following: starting a new novel, finishing writing a blockbuster novel, hiking on a misty morning trail in the Santa Cruz Mountains, saying Namaste after a great yoga practice, sipping a cappuccino topped at a bustling café, reading in front of a fire with snow outside, swimming in an ocean someplace.

I've just set out my perfect life. Day after day after day.

Quick This or That

Coffee or Tea?

Coffee is my mainstay drink in the morning. I seldom drink tea, but once in

a while I love green tea or the kind that smells like cinnamon.

Cats or Dogs?

Cats. They help me write without slobbering on the keyboard.

Cake or Pie?

Pie as long as it's fresh fruit, preferably apple.

Summer or winter?

Summer because there are tomatoes.

Vampires or Shifters?

Shifters. Vampires have been done to death. Well, so have shifters, but

these are the choices, right? :-)

Hamburgers or Hotdogs?

Hamburgers. I'm a big eater when I'm hungry. One hot dog doesn't cut it.

Last sport event you attended?

A college Lacrosse tournament. Fabulous. Our team won.

Last book you read?

I hate to say this, but it was mine. I had to read it before sending it out to

readers! Now I feel very self-centered.

Parting Thoughts On Writing?

Yes.

Oh, that’s not what you meant. Here’s a parting thought: Don’t let a bad

review get you down. Here’s why. From the Musical Courier, 1887

“Brahams evidently lacks the breadth and peer of invention eminently

necessary for the production of truly great symphonic works.”

Everyone sees, hears and thinks differently.

Publication date: October 14th 2014
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult
Designed by Mae I Design

Synopsis:

What do you do when the one person you don’t want is the one person you need?
When nineteen-year-old Katie said goodbye to her small hometown to go to a prestigious college far away, looking back was the last thing on her agenda. Adam is the complete opposite of Katie. He lives his life in the fast lane—fast bikes, loose women, and easy excitement. When Katie comes crashing into his life, she is exactly what he didn’t know he needed. But Katie can’t get involved with a guy like Nash, not if she wants her old life back. However, Nash is not about to let Katie get away from him that easy. He knows what he wants… and he won’t stop until he gets it.
From the author that brought you Barbie Girl and Barbie World comes the next installment in the Baby Doll series, Doll Face—a fast-paced, new-adult novel that can be read as a standalone.

AUTHOR BIO
Heidi Acosta was born on Long Island, New York. Moving around a lot when she was younger, she has lived in New York, Arizona, New York (again), Washington, Georgia, and Florida, in that order. Each place offered her something special, but she will always consider New York her home.
Heidi started writing as soon as she could spell. When she was three, Heidi’s mother gave her a copy of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House in the Big Woods; thus beginning her lifelong love affair with literature.
Writing soon also became a form of therapy for Heidi, when she realized that no matter what was happening in her life, she could find emotional escape while writing. Some of her earliest stories featured her as a princess who explored new worlds with her horse Buttercup. If it sounds romantic, it wasn’t, there was no prince charming in those fairy lands (boys where yucky).
Heidi now resides in Florida with her husband, very active daughter, one hyper Chihuahua, two sweet cats, and one very fat moody cat.
Barbie Girl is the first Novel of Heidi’s new, four-book, Baby Doll Series: Barbie Girl, Barbie World, Doll Face, and Southern Sugar.

Character Interview: Luke Black –
Q1: How old were you when you started playing guitar?
LB: I was 12.  My mum gave me Chloe, my acoustic guitar on my twelve birthday.
Q2: What started your song writing?
LB: Losing my best friend at age 7 in a house fire. I wrote my first song Pink Ribbons for Chloe, who was also the reason I named my guitar. Her death impacted on me that much. I was 7 years old and it was the only way I could move on and accept it. But, without letting her go completely.
Q3: If Chloe was still alive, do you think she would be your girlfriend?
LB: I often ask myself that. I don’t know if she would have been in my life romantically but she would be my best friend. That I am very sure of. A part of me thinks she was removed to allow me to meet Melissa. She is my little Angel who I believe has always been with me. I’ve never forgotten her.
Q4: If you were not in a band or doing anything music related. What job would you be doing?
LB: I would still be working in a petrol station. Dying of boredom. I try not to think about it. I’m doing the only thing I want to do and have any skill in.
Q5: What was it like to go from playing to 20 people in a pub to what you’re doing now?
LB: Mind blowing, insane and I am still in shock. Everyone dreams of it but not everyone gets it. I am so thankful for every fan we have.
Q6: What song is your favourite to perform?
LB: Ooooh that’s easy ‘Weekend High’ I wrote that when I was twenty after a really bad relationship. It wasn’t really a relationship but at the time I didn’t see it,  it was just convenience and there was no love there. Also, the fans go nuts to it.
Q7: Which gig has been your favorite so far?
LB: Now, that is harder to answer because every gig is amazing for all kinds of reasons. I don’t think it would be fair to choose one. That is like saying to one set of fans ‘Oh you were great’ and make other fans feel like you are dissing them. But, for sentimental reasons our third gig at Ruby’s back home will always be special. I meet my Liss there and it was what changed everything for me, and us as a band.
Q8: It’s a Saturday night and you’re not on tour. What would you be doing?
LB: I don’t see Liss much so we would either be catching up at home. (Luke winks and laughs) or we would be out with everyone getting drunk.
Q9: Who is your best friend?
LB: My band are my best mates but the ultimate title goes to Dale. He’s always there for me even when I’m a pain in the arse, we’ve know each other since we were 10.
Q10: What would you like to say to your fans about the gossip that surrounds you?
LB: That most of it is complete and utter rubbish. If you haven’t heard it from me the chances are it isn’t true. And, Just to clarify the latest story. The band are not splitting up. My girlfriend isn’t sleeping with my drummer, doesn’t have a drink problem and isn’t pregnant.
Q11: You have 48 hours to live. What would you do?
LB: I would put on the biggest show and say goodbye to my fans before spending whatever time I have left with the people I love. Hopefully write a song that will go down in history so I live on forever.
